PROFESSIONAL POLICING DEGREE

Do you want to pursue a career with Gwent Police and make a difference in the community?

Are you in your final year of the BSc/BA in Professional Policing Practice or completed this qualification within the last 5 years?

If so, this is an opportunity for you to join one of the best performing forces in the UK.

Gwent Police are launching an exciting new route to becoming a police officer. A career in policing demands skill, responsibility, leadership, initiative and a genuine desire to make a difference to society. The pre-join degree is a professional, academic, knowledge based degree with the curriculum designed to cover all aspects of the police constable role and help you meet that challenge.

Join and help us be the best at understanding and responding to our communities’ needs.

To be eligible to apply to Gwent Police via this route applicants must be in the final year of their Professional Policing Practice Degree at the time of application and achieve their degree prior to appointment or have previously completed this qualification within the last 5 years. Successful applicants will then have a shorter on-the-job training programme.

National and local eligibility requirements must still be met and achievement of the degree does not guarantee a successful application.

Once you join Gwent Police you will commence a two year probationary period during which you will undertake further practice based learning and assessments in order to demonstrate your competence for the role.
