The role of a Witness Care Officer is key to supporting witnesses attendance at court and to give their best evidence. To do this Witness Care Officers make contact with witnesses to explore their needs in relation to attending court, put measures in place to ensure these are met and keep witnesses fully updated and informed in relation to their involvement with the courts and criminal justice system. The role involves regularly liaising with other criminal justice agencies such as CPS.
