We are looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Manager, relevant Degree or Health and Safety qualified individual, to lead and drive a small team and the health and safety agenda in Gwent Police.

Starting Salary £43,860pa rising with increments to £47,0580 pa plus a generous benefit package including leave, flexible working, final salary pension scheme, occupational sick pay, gym facilities, salary sacrifice schemes, reward card.        

About the role 

Reporting to the Head of People Services the Health & Safety manager will provide expert health and safety advice and guidance on emerging, complex, critical and/or escalated issues, with experienced working knowledge of HSE, managing the risks, changes in legislation or guidance that HSE provide.

Consideration of the criticality and vulnerability of the Force’s high-risk environment, promoting a Health and Safety conscious working environment and ensuring a strong safety culture is fully embedded across the organisation. Setting the Health & Safety expectations by developing appropriate standards and procedures, ensuring these are integrated within the Force. You will have a proven record of managing and developing a small team and influencing management to deliver on their H&S obligations,

About You 

Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent professional qualification). Chartered Member of the Institution of  Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent professional body i.e. International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) You will be experienced in Health and Safety legislation and best practice to drive compliance and continuous improvement across the force with detailed experience of working with HSE. influencing peers riving new initiatives and the ability to effectively negotiate and influence at a senior level.   The ideal candidate will be able to operate strategically whilst maintain a hands on approach, acting as a strong role model for culture change.
