Position: Assistant Director of Corporate Services

Location: Bridgend

Salary:  L8.2 (£75,915 – rising to £81,036)

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Corporate Services Department which sits at the heart of South Wales Police.  You will lead a sizable team and be responsible for supporting the Chief Officer and senior leadership team to improve the performance of the force and service delivery to the communities of South Wales. The post holder has direct reporting line to the Deputy Chief Constable.

The post holder will be responsible for:

Effective strategic planning for the force, developing and delivery the Chief Constable’s priorities in the Force’s Delivery Plan.

A managing staff across a range of functions including strategic planning, executive support, performance management, programme management, continuous improvement, inspection and risk.

Oversight of an effective governance process – enabling Chief Officers to deliver the key priorities for the force and ensure compliance with pour legislative and statuary requirements.

Management of the internal and external inspection programme, undertaking by the internal inspection team, TIAA auditors, HMICFES and others.

Delivery of Force Performance data and analysis at a force and local level to identify good practice and areas requiring improvement.

Management of the Force change programme, supporting specific projects and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the force.

Liaison between the force and the Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner, and their scrutiny and accountability function.

To be successful in this challenging role, you will be qualified to degree level in a related subject (or have equivalent experience) and have proven ability to lead across a range of corporate functions. You will bring strategic leadership skills and bring a demonstrable record of accomplishment introducing fresh thinking and best practice. Of equal importance is your ability to influence, advise and inspire at all levels.
