Grade POF - £58,089 – £62,004

We are seeking a Technical Solutions Architect to join our ICT team here in North Wales Police.

The role will require the postholder to proactively and holistically lead and support activities that guide the technical development and management of a portfolio of solutions, which include projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes, and data), infrastructure services and application services.

To achieve this a deep understanding of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities and business processes is needed.   The role will provide the necessary leadership, analysis, and design tasks to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. It will also create deliverables for managing the organisation's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions to enable and drive targeted business outcomes.

To apply, you must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis or a related study (or equivalent experience) and minimum of five years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.

You should be able to demonstrate exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments and be able to deliver presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences.

Whilst experience of working in a policing/emergency services environment would be helpful, it is not essential.  Experience of the National Enabling Programme (NEP) blueprints would also be useful but not essential as would experience of security standards applicable to policing such as NIST and NCSC.

North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Welsh skills initially, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh. Within your 6 month probationary period you will be required to reach Level 3 Welsh language skills. You can find out more by visiting our Welsh Language Resources Page.
