 Police Staff -  Salary scale POC £42,597 – £45,873

 

Hours – 37 per week.

 

North Wales Police is proud to be the Host Force for the Forensic Collision Investigation Network (FCIN) which will deliver a professional, impartial, and accredited service across England and Wales.

 

Exciting opportunities have arisen to join the FCIN Science Team as a Video Forensic Technical Specialist. You will be joining on a full-time permanent contract within an organisation that will support your success in the workplace.

The post holder will form part of the FCIN Science Team, responsible for developing and strengthening the video forensic aspects of the network together with planning and delivering video related technical aspects of the FCIN science programme and projects.

The FCIN is keen to attract the right person to this role at a pivotal time and as such is offering full flexibility for working from home to increase its appeal nationally to maximise the opportunity of attracting truly exceptional candidates.

What does the Science - Video Forensic Technical Specialist role entail?

The post holder will have a key role in the formation of scientific method validation design strategies, ensuring adherence to them and supported by a plan, involving where necessary members of the wider FCIN team and forces’ Forensic Collision Investigators (FCIs).

The role involves identifying and monitoring portfolio risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them, and responding to other associated issues.

You will liaise with the FCIN Competency and Auditing Team to facilitate continuous improvement feedback and updates to standard operation procedures and ensure technical outputs meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice requirements.

What will I need to be considered for the Science – Video Forensic Technical Specialist Role?

Hold either a City and Guilds in Forensic Collison Investigation/Accident Investigation certificate for Police Officers, a SQA in Forensic Collison Investigation or a UCPD in Forensic Road Collision Investigation or be prepared to work towards the UCPD.

 

Hold either a degree and/or significant relevant experience in a relevant technical discipline and have detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of digital video recording and processing systems.

 

Knowledge of forensic video techniques and their application including methods of acquisition/recovery, conversion, processing and analysis is also required together with demonstrable knowledge of the practical application of forensic video analysis.

 

Experience of managing/co-ordinating forensic responses to video related investigations and forensic collision investigations is desirable but not essential.

 

The post holder will be required to drive Force vehicles, and therefore must hold a full driving licence, they may be required to work unsociable and additional hours when required.  Some travel to the FCIN’s test facilities at Cranfield and Santa Pod will be required.  The agile nature of the role attracts flexible home-based working with a need to manage your time to meet the needs of the FCIN Science team as and when appropriate.
