About our Modern Apprentice Role

At North Wales Police we have a great opportunity for an Apprentice Administrator Assistant to obtain a solid understanding of business administration across designated business areas at our offices in Colwyn Bay. Joining the Staff Office, we’ll employ you on a 2-year fixed term contract, you will be working as part of an enthusiastic team who will be committed to supporting and mentoring you whilst you work towards completing a NVQ Level 2 and have the benefit of gaining a solid grounding in business administration whilst working to support our Chief Officer Team.

The role will offer you an insight into a number of policing areas to strategic, operation and tactical levels.

This Apprenticeship Administrator Assistant opportunity will provide you with:

  • Support in completing an NVQ level 2 Qualification in Business Administration if you are currently working towards this, or support in achieving the qualification.
  • You’ll be employed on a fixed term two-year contract for the purpose of serving an apprenticeship with North Wales Police in an administrative role.
  • You’ll be supported by a mentor who will provide dedicated support in monthly meetings to discuss your progress, learning needs and development plans in line with your NVQ modules.
  • You’ll be involved in conduct research, inputting data and processing various documents using a range of IT packages.
  • Working with company policies and procedures in line with the work you will be delivering whilst maintaining confidentiality.
  • Undertake general administrative responsibilities such as typing letters of acknowledgement.
  • Producing standard business correspondence and reports.
  • Attending meetings and taking actions.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to deal with general telephone and written enquiries from members of the public and other departments.
  • Obtain a good level of understanding of various business support services within North Wales Police.

The experience you’ll bring to the Apprenticeship Administrator Assistant role;

  1. You’ll be working towards or have a desire to work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration.
  2. IT skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office or similar IT packages.
  3. Good written and communication skills.
  4. The ability to work well in a team and alone.
  5. Self-motivated to learn and to apply your learning in the workplace.

Please note there is no age limit on applications for this role, however due to funding restrictions candidates who are degree holders (level 5 or above qualification) are unable to apply.

North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Spoken Welsh skills, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh.
