Disclosure Agent, North Wales Police, Salary £23,100 to £25,353

Initial training to be office based in St. Asaph PFI building, however post location will be substantially Hybrid working from home with minimal office attendance.

With attention to detail being of the utmost importance, you’ll be processing and divulging disclosure checks on behalf of the Disclosures and Barring Service (DBS) and outside agencies, into the criminal background of applicants for roles which involve the applicant having substantial access to children and vulnerable adults. You’ll be supported to lean on your integrity, by using your own judgement when making decisions, which over time will enable you to manage your own workload with confidence and progress within your own abilities.

Here are some of the accountabilities of the Disclosure Agent role:

  • Process incoming application forms, ensuring they have been completed thoroughly and accurately, liaising with other Police Forces where appropriate and returning incomplete and inaccurate forms.
  • Utilising the Police National Computer (PNC) alongside an array of other systems, to ascertain if the subject has any recorded convictions or non-conviction information held by North Wales Police. Whilst updating all systems with current and additional information from application forms such as additional names used and current address.
  • To verify details obtained against the subject, quality checking for any inaccuracies and obtaining further information when required.
  • To confirm outcomes using the national Quality Assurance Framework to assess relevancy and produce reports discarding information for non-disclosure and documenting the rationale supporting the decision.
  • To collate and analyse all information, submitting enquiries to the Supervisor where further investigation is needed, and those with non-conviction information where guidance is required as to how to proceed.

What will I need to be considered for this Disclosure Agent role?

  • NVQ 3 level qualification and/or relevant Administration experience.
  • Proven work experience in the collation, analysis and evaluation of information.
  • The use of Information Technology to an intermediate level, which includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to prioritise and organise work and respond positively under pressure.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and oral, together with the ability to work well in a team environment and on their own initiative.
  • Use of professionalism in terms of confidentiality and access to sensitive information.

North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Spoken Welsh skills, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh.
