What does role Operational Support Services Analyst entail?

 

In this role you’ll be reporting to the Call Centre Manager, producing analytical products to inform decision making on intelligence, crime and incidents across the force. The ability to work under pressure is key as you support with the analysis, tasking and co-ordination process at all levels in order to inform effective decision-making for the deployment of Force resources. Other duties will include, but not be limited to;

 

  • Producing and contributing to the production of tactical and strategic analysis products.
  • Employing a wide range of analytical techniques including problem solving analysis.
  • Identifying and assessing the nature and scope of intelligence, crime and incidents within North Wales.
  • Presenting the results of analysis in oral and written form to a wide range of audiences including the public, senior officers, senior Local Authority members and the Crown Prosecution Service.

 

What will I need to be considered for the Operational Support Services Analyst?

 

In this role, you’ll need to be capable of balancing competing demands and priorities utilising your communication skills in order to work effectively , with the ability to negotiate and influence at various levels within the organisation. You will also need;

 

  • A degree level of education demonstrating qualitative and quantitative research experience or proven level of relevant experience.
  • Proven analytical skills preferably obtained within an intelligence environment.
  • Good organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines in a high- pressure environment.
  • Excellent report writing skills and oral communication/ presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  • Advanced IT skills especially MS Excel and the ability to use specialist software to aid intelligence analysis.

 

Although not essential for the role, the following would be advantageous;

 

  • Trained in the use of I2 Analysis software and crime mapping software.
  • Experience of intelligence analysis

 

In line with our Welsh Language Skills policy, we’re committed to being a bilingual organisation. Prior to appointment, you’ll be required to demonstrate an attainment of Level 2 in spoken Welsh. This means that you can understand and pronounce Welsh place names and an ability to understand and use simple everyday phrases.
