The role is to provide very high quality support to both Senior Coroners in the North Wales area. You must be highly motivated and flexible to work in this demanding environment under pressure with tight deadlines where precision is paramount.

You must be able to work with a professional approach in a calm and empathetic manner to bereaved families of sudden, violent and unexpected deaths on a daily basis. Referrals received will include detailed information and / or images which may be of a graphic nature. It is therefore important you understand this before applying.

Ability to multi task is essential and previous experience of dealing with difficult subject matter and distressed individuals are desirable.

The role is extremely rewarding as we help families through a very difficult time in their lives after having lost a loved one.

Level 3 Welsh language skills are essential for this post.

Please refer to the NWP Welsh Language Skills Policy for details on your eligibility criteria and learning commitments throughout probation.

North Wales Police is committed to being a bilingual organisation. You will therefore be expected to demonstrate a positive approach towards the Welsh Language. In accordance with the North Wales Police Welsh Language Skills Policy prior to an offer of appointment being made, if you do not already speak Welsh you will be required to achieve Level 2 in spoken Welsh. In essence this means that you can understand and pronounce Welsh place names and peoples’ names as well as an ability to understand and use simple everyday spoken Welsh phrases. We do offer support and guidance to help you achieve the required level. Please use the following link to access our online Welsh language support materials https://www.north-wales.police.uk/recruitment-home/welsh-language-resources/level-2-welsh. You will also be required to demonstrate Level 3 spoken skills during your probation period, for which you will be fully supported.
