Here at North Wales Police, we are looking for someone to join us on a full-time two-year contract to work alongside all four Welsh forces in a challenging yet rewarding position as All Wales Quality Assurance Advisor.

Responsible to the Wales National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) Lead and working with each of the Designated Responsible Officers in Wales, you will drive and deliver change to ensure the highest level of standards for the Volunteer Police Cadet (VPC) and Police Youth Volunteer (PYV) programmes.

Providing specialist, strategic advice to senior leaders across Policing you will lead the implementation of consistent, safe and sustainable processes in the youth programmes across all four forces strengthening pathways for young people from challenging backgrounds.

We are looking for someone who has managerial experience within a youth work setting, exceptional organisational and communication skills with a high level of self-motivation and enthusiasm to make a difference. The correct person should have the ability to work remotely as this role will be home-based with requirement particularly, to travel across the four Welsh Police Forces.

Other duties may include but not be limited to

  • Brief the Wales NPCC lead for Volunteer Police Cadets & Police Youth Volunteers on a regular basis and prepare reports for the Wales Chief Officer Group
  • Introduce a new national Youth Panel to empower our young people to voice how they want change and to shape a safeguarding culture while ensuring the efforts of all members are recognised and celebrated.
  • Work in partnership with the Youth Work sector and other key stakeholders in Wales to achieve shared ambitions and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the benefits of this new approach are captured, actively involving the young people in both developing the framework for the evaluation and the activity in support of it.

This role is subject to Enhanced DBS clearance and full police vetting.

The role is considered as exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 due to the close contact with young people on a regular basis and the position of trust you will be placed in.

What will I need for the Role of All Wales Quality Assurance Advisor?

  • To be educated to degree level and/or relevant professional experience at a management level within a youth work setting
  • Strategic expertise of the youth work sector including experience of monitoring and evaluating the quality of youth work strategy and delivery
  • Experience of implementing safeguarding standards such as the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales
  • Proven track record of operating to Youth Work in Wales Principles and Purposes
  • Experience of coordinating activity across wide stakeholder groups
  • Experience of project management and strategic report writing
  • Experience, either through participation and/or delivery, of youth work training in Wales
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work remotely and with self-motivation and personal initiative, with limited supervision.
  • Effective decision-making skills, working with complex and competing demands, prioritising effectively
  • The ability to work with little supervision and to meet deadlines
