Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project Support Assistant (Grade 4/5)

This permanent full-time post will be essential to fulfil the central functions and responsibilities of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team’s work.  Whilst there will be some administrative tasks, the role will sit above generalist administration providing centralised support for both the core EDI team and a number of its closely aligned work areas and governance structures. This post will allow the team to work efficiently towards its various strategic aims and deliver on the objectives set out in the Chief Constable’s Delivery Plan. In addition, the post holder will assist in the provision of support to the Staff Support Networks and the Joint Equality Plan Leads, and will also provide dedicated support to the Strategic Independent Advisory Group.

The high-level requirements of the role will include:

  • Performing the functions and responsibilities that are central to the EDI team’s work;
  • Due to the nature of the role, some understanding of equality and human rights, ideally within a policing context;  
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, accompanied by high levels of emotional intelligence;  
  • An ability to develop constructive relationships of trust with a diverse cross section of individuals from both communities of place and interest;  
  • Suitable knowledge, skills and experience of using relevant ICT, planning and project management equipment and software.  

This role is not suitable for part time/job share workers due to operational requirements.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
