About the team/Department you will be joining:

 

 

Human Resources is a department with varied responsibilities and workloads. The department includes the below:

HR Shared Services which deal with administration transactions regarding processes such as New Starters, Maternity Leave, Hours Changes and police staff recruitment etc,

Recruitment which organises Police Officer, Custody Detention Officer, Special Constable and Public Service Centre campaigns

The Health Unit which includes the Doctor/Nurse appointments for new recruits and existing employees

Positive Action which includes organising, scheduling and attending events

 

About the role and your key responsibilities:

 

 

The Apprentice role will include time working in each sub department of Human Resources, learning and familiarising yourself with the processes. Some of the key responsibilities will include the below:

Word processing documents, responding to enquires from customers and providing the relevant information, Co-ordinate with other team members, plan and organise own work, use and understand systems relevant to the area of work.

It will also include attending assessment centres for recruitment campaigns and also career fairs/open days

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

 

 

The applicant must be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft applications and have an up-to-date knowledge of IT packages, have a good telephone technique and previous administrative experience.

Positive about change, able to adapt to different ways of working and can plan and organise tasks effectively by being able to prioritise and manage time.

 

Qualification Criteria

 

You must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.

 

You must be prepared to work towards a qualification in a relevant subject e.g. Level 3 Business Administration.

Please note to be eligible for the SWP Apprenticeship Programme you must:

  • Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
  • Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
  • Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship, or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
  • If you are applying for a South Wales Police Staff Apprenticeship as a career change opportunity then the role you apply for must be of a different discipline than any previous qualifications you hold. For example if you have a ICT degree you would not be able to apply for the ICT apprenticeship, but could apply for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion apprenticeship.

 

Shortlisting for this vacancy will take place on week commencing 31st March.

 

Interviews for this vacancy will take place on either week commencing 28th April or week commencing 5th May.
