We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Forensics Post Graduate to join us for 12 months, this role will give you the opportunity to become involved with a range of tasks and gain valuable experience in the Digital Forensics arena.

Working within the imaging lab in the Digital Forensic Unit you will be responsible for the extraction of data from a variety of digital exhibits which may include computers, mobile phones, drones and smart devices. Full training will be provided on a number of advanced extraction techniques and the associated evidence handling procedures. You will be expected to provide technical advice and assistance to officers engaged in the investigation of digital crimes throughout the South Wales Police area.

Qualification Criteria

To be eligible you must possess a 2:1 degree or higher in a field related to Digital Forensics or similar relevant subject and have achieved this within the last 3 years from the placement start date, 14th September 2026.

You will have knowledge in Microsoft Windows, OS X, iOS, Linux and Android operating systems with a sound understanding of criminal law, with particular emphasis on computer crime legislation, including RIPA, computer misuse, ECHR and Data Protection. Experience with forensic imaging and examination tools would be beneficial.
