About the team/Department you will be joining:

An opportunity has arisen for a Crime Reduction Tactical Advisor to join the Community Safety & Partnerships department within the Swansea, Neath & Port Talbot policing area.  The team is responsible for community cohesion and various engagements to prevent all crime types and exploitation in all its forms.   

About the role and your key responsibilities:

The successful candidate will play a critical role in engaging with victims, colleagues and partners to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour. Key responsibilities will be as follows: 

  • Enhanced target hardening of High-Risk Survivors of domestic abuse / vulnerable victims.
  • Advise R.E. strategies / tactics for problem solving.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings, for example Public Service Groups.
  • Meeting with Neighbourhood Policing Inspectors to review policing plans to address problem area.   
  • Carry out Environmental Visual Audits (EVA’s) of specific, identified areas.
  • Carry out both residential and non- residential site surveys.
  • Advise on crime prevention initiatives, property marking etc.
  • Look at developing crime patterns in areas and develop strategies to address / tackle such.
  • Presentations to community groups with regards to crime prevention, for example: online fraud, burglary etc.
  • Consult with outside agencies, partners, and key individuals to develop working strategies to prevent crime, minimise risk.
  • Respond to critical incidents R.E. witness and victim safeguarding.
  • Review daily crime.
  • Be prepared to undergo training to

This role is suitable for part time/job share workers 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills as engaging with partners, colleagues and victims of crime is critical to success. Candidates must be passionate about supporting victims of crime and competent in using IT systems.  Professionalism is a core requirement and a willingness to work as part of a dedicated team. 

This role may require weekend and afternoon duties subject to demands. 

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
