South Wales Police is excited to launch our 2023 Graduate Programme and we are looking for people with diverse skills and experiences who are innovative, driven, ambitious and above all, talented individuals who aspire to be leaders of the future and wish to join our successful team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated graduate to join our Digital Forensics Team, this unique opportunity will give you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience involving a variety of tasks and projects in a dynamic digital policing environment. You will gain an understanding of how forensic examinations of digital technology are undertaken and in turn assist in the identification, prevention, and detection of criminal activity. 


Our Graduate Trainee Programme provides you with the opportunity to gain essential work experience in your chosen field of work and will also enable you to gain a professional qualification and build on your already achieved academic qualifications.

You’ll also benefit from the opportunity to develop many other skills including leadership, critical thinking and team building and participate in some of the established South Wales Police training programmes.

All professional studies will be fully funded, and you will be provided with the necessary time to ensure you are able to attain such studies.

You will benefit from a network of support and encouragement from line managers, who will guide you through your role and professional studies to a ‘buddy’ to help you ease into your new role and provide ongoing support throughout the programme. You can be confident that we are just as enthusiastic about your development as you are.

The programme commences in September 2023, and you must be working towards a degree related to the specialist field of Digital Forensics with a predicted grade of a 2:1 or higher or have graduated within 3 years. You must have knowledge of Microsoft Windows, OS X, iOS, Linux and Android operating systems, with the ability to conduct online research to identify investigative opportunities. You will have a sound knowledge of the criminal law, with particular emphasis on computer crime legislation, including RIPA, Computer Misuse, ECHR and Data Protection Act.
