South Wales Police brings together thousands of people with the same aim – to keep South Wales safe.

We want to be the best at understanding and responding to our community’s needs. To do this we need the very best candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to become part of our policing family.

Becoming part of #TeamSWP will offer you a unique learning experience where you will contribute to real life projects in a complex and diverse environment. We value individuality and encourage new ideas and creativity that will contribute to our success as a force and make a difference to society.

South Wales Police is excited to launch our 2023 Graduate Programme and we are looking for people with diverse skills and experiences who are innovative, driven, ambitious and above all, talented individuals who aspire to be leaders of the future and wish to join our successful team.

South Wales Police strives for a workforce model and working environment which we have the right people, doing the right things in the right way.

The Human Resources team makes this happen, by attracting, developing, and retaining the best people.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate to work within our very busy HR Team where you will have opportunity to support the delivery of a range of projects and services across various teams within the department including Resourcing, Pay and Reward.

You can expect to be challenged every day and have the chance to put your academic knowledge to the test, gaining invaluable work experience to contribute to your ongoing career in HR.

Our Graduate Trainee Programme provides you with the opportunity to gain essential work experience in your chosen field of work and will also enable you to gain a professional CIPD qualification and build on your already achieved academic qualifications once you have successfully passed your graduate development scheme.

You’ll also benefit from the opportunity to develop many other skills including leadership, critical thinking and team building and participate in some of the established South Wales Police training programmes.

All professional studies will be fully funded, and you will be provided with the necessary time to ensure you are able to attain such studies.

You will benefit from a network of support and encouragement from line managers, who will guide you through your role and professional studies to a ‘buddy’ to help you ease into your new role and provide ongoing support throughout the programme. You can be confident that we are just as enthusiastic about your development as you are.

The Graduate Scheme will commence in September 2023 and to be eligible you will be currently studying for a degree in Human Resource Management and  looking to expand your knowledge in this field.

There are numerous benefits to working for South Wales Police, from learning and development opportunities to schemes which aim to improve your lifestyle and wellbeing, as well as generous Local Government Pension Scheme / Police Pension Schemes, paid annual leave, flexible working and family friendly policies and many more, click here for more information.
