We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Contract Management Officer in our Joint Commercial & Procurement Services Department. Could you be who we are looking for? 

About the team/Department you will be joining: 

  • We are seeking an experienced Contract Management professional to join South Wales and Gwent Police Joint Commercial & Procurement Services.
  • The Contract Management Officers sit within the Strategic Procurement team, reporting to one of two Procurement Managers.
  • You will work closely with a team of Procurement Officers, guiding client leads through complex contract management issues whilst ensuring continuous improvement in this area. 

About the role and your key responsibilities: 

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for Custody Services contracts.
  • The role’s purpose is to lead the commercial relationship with key suppliers, ensuring that all commercial issues are negotiated effectively to deliver best value, to manage contract reviews and ensure effective contract performance management. 
  • The current, primary custody contract is a high value, healthcare contract within our custody suites and a forensic medical service provided by Force Medical Examiners.
  • In addition, the role will manage contracts such as clothing and equipment for detainees, laundry services, CCTV, appropriate adult services, custody meals. 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role: 

  • To be successful in this role, you will be qualified to CIPS Level 6 or equivalent and have proven ability of leading effective contract performance management, conflict resolution, providing professional advice on technical contract matters and a good knowledge of procurement procedures applicable in the public sector. The post-holder will benefit from smarter working policies, with a mixture of home working and working in South Wales Police HQ, with occasional travel to Gwent Police.

This role is suitable for part time/job share workers due to operational requirements. 

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
